Gain success in everyday activities
Your child’s life is made up of occupations, or everyday activities which take place during child development. Many of those activities revolve around their mental health and their physical health. Pediatric services through occupational therapy can help them gain success in everyday activities.
Every child has "occupations" in their lives. Toddlers play and learn as their occupation. Adolescents work at being students and developing the skills to become more independent as their occupation. We generally don’t think about a child’s daily occupations until he or she has challenges doing them.
How Occupational Therapy Can Help
Occupational therapy supports children of all ages. An occupational therapy treatment plan will enable the child to resolve challenges and continue to do the things they want to do.
To determine the best course of treatment, our occupational therapist will first:
- Evaluate your child.
- Then consider the task or activity.
- Take into account the environment.
- Finally, with input from you, develop individualized interventions for your child to achieve his or her goals.
This evaluation will consider what your child wants and needs to do, and measure his or her abilities against those goals. The treatment plan may include modifying both the task and the environment to allow your child to be as independent as possible.
The staff at The Therapy Place in Kalamazoo, MI cares about your child. It is our mission to help your child live life to the fullest by promoting their physical and mental health, and thereby helping them better accommodate illness, injury, or disability.
